The Hatch High School Music Department will be on tour April 30th through May 3rd, presenting concerts in Southern New Mexico, Arizona, and California. You can help the music parents raise the necessary funds for the trip by participating in one of the following fundraising activities:
The 2nd Annual Golf Tournament - - Saturday, April 24th at 1pm at Sonoma Ranch Golf Course. Individual Players and teams are welcome, and hole sponsorships are available.
Hatch Salsa Event - - donate $5 and receive a pint of red, green, or hot jalepeno salsa.
Letterman Jacket Drawing - - donate $5 to be entered into the drawing for a brand new HVHS Letterman jacket.
Guitar Drawing - - donate $5 and be entered into the drawing for a brand new acoustic or electric guitar, along with a guitar lesson.

Starting March 11th, Mesilla Valley Audubon will offer local birding trips on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of March and April. Trips will be geared to the beginning birder and destinations will be determined the day of the trip. All trips will be within 15-20 minutes of Las Cruces. Mesilla Valley Audubon Society announces the opening of nominations for the 13th Lorraine Schulte Excellence in Teaching Award. An award of $200 will be presented to a teacher who excels in encouraging children to care for the environment. Applicants are asked to list the objectives of the teacher’s program along with a brief description of teaching techniques, program activities and a simple evaluation of the outcome. Anyone can nominate a teacher, kindergarten through grade 12, by completing a brief application. Self-nominations are also accepted.

We will be lining the trail with rock, raking the trail, trash pick up, and more. Bring work gloves and plenty of drinking water. The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park is located northeast of Las Cruces. From I25 in Las Cruces, head east on Highway 70. Take the Mesa Grande Road exit (at Onate High School). Make a U-turn under the highway to head west and stay in the right lane. Turn right (north) on Jornada Road. Follow Jornada Road for 6.4 miles and turn left at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park sign. Follow the entrance road to the parking area and trailhead.
